Bad Company 2, one of the latest in the Battlefield franchise is now being played on my PC.   Sometimes by me even!  Again, I love to snipe, reaching out and touching someone is always nice, isn’t it?

SO I am placing my stat images here for shits and giggles.  I will make them more permanent as well I think, again for S&Gs.

And there you go…not bad for only a couple of weeks (since the new Winona arrived).

I got the new PC, it’s SCARY fast.  To give you an example.  EVE-Online used to run at about 70 – 100fps most of the time.  It was good – no special settings, so good quality, but nothing special.  With this system, at the MAX settings in game I was able to get 250 – 270fps!!!  Then I went into the card settings, and set the AA to 8x and the AF to 12x and overrode the games.  EVE-Online dropped to 170fps on average, but OH SO PRETTY!

I started playing BC2 (Bad Company 2) recently with the new PC, same settings, same deal, massive speed low drag, ALL the pretties!  DDO (Dungeons and Dragons online) is exactly the same.

It was a good lunch, though the GM of AHL got our company name wrong, as did the MC for the day, Mel.

Was it worth it? Maybe.

I am THAT much closer to the new PC, since the last one exploded.  Reworking the numbers, getting the right components, and checking things out, THIS is the end result of all that work, and hopefully being ordered this week:

So this will have 12GB of RAM, 8TB of HDD Storage, 1TB of system storage, BluRay burner, 3 monitors run from 2 video cards, with USB 3, and Sata III…I will also be adding a Wacom drawing pad down the line, but that’s $2200 I can work without till I get it.

Once upon a time, there was a movie called Office Space.  There is STILL that same movie, but my desire to watch it has waned considerably.  Office Space (from now going to be called OS -ed.) is my time to go get another job movie.  It was the one to remind me that there was always something better out there, if I could calm down and just go and look, and relax a bit more.

At the moment, I am hectic busy with work.  It’s 1am as I write this, and I am still working, designing a new network infrastructure and server topology for a client, based on notes from one of the worst people I have ever worked with in IT.  He will get added to the douche file later.  So at the moment I am doing the design for the naming conventions to be used, or in technical terms, the Nomenclature.  Since yesterday I have done the following, and I will write something more about them with examples:

• IP Topology
• Nomenclature
• Active Directory (OU Structures)

I am also writing a new .vbs logon script for the entire organisation to replace the 30 odd they have in place at the moment.

My team has implemented the SOE design successfully, just waiting for testing, and then that will start, and lastly we will implement the MOE™ component.  At this time I bet you are (for most of you) wondering what a MOE™ is?!  MOE™ stands for Managed Operating Environment.

The client that is getting all this is going from physical servers to consolidated virtualised ones, with servers going from a mix of Server 2000 to WS08, Exchange from 2003 (with legacy chunks of 5 in it) to Exchange2010, Windows from XP to Windows 7, and lastly Office is going from 2003 to 2010!  BIG jumps for this place, so the teething period is going to be fun.  Especailly since they won’t be getting any of the security holes they had before…

But even with the lack of sleep, the not seeing my beeautiful wife and son, I still don’t want to see OS.  That’s something.

I have a Canon printer with a paper feed switch, and every time I would go to print something out, it would try and print from the back feed source from Visio.  No matter what settings I put in printing or the document.  This carried from Vision Pro 2003 through to the current 2010 version.  Well today after some tweaking, I have a nice simple solution:

1. Open “Printer Properties”;
   1. This can be when printing, or through control panel etc…
2. Select the “Page Setup” tab at the top;
3. Click the “Print Options” button a the bottom of the window;
4. Place a tick in the check box next to “Disable the paper source setting of the application software”

Save it and print, that should allow you to control where it prints to in the printer.

So, reading RiotACT, my wife got this new Tobasco branded hot sauce on the market here in Canberra, and a local store to me might have had it.  SO I went looking tonight and found it.  Got home, and tried it.  Here are some facts.  The ingredients listing on a product is in order the amount of a component in the product, with the highest amount going first, down to the lowest.

So this hot sauce is the normal Tobasco one with Habanero in it.  The first ingredient of 18 ingredients is vinegar, the second is Habaneros!  It’s NICE and hot.  I only had a small amount and my tongue lingered nice and hot for a good 10 minutes, slowly cooling down.  I stopped eating hot sauces so my mouth would let me feel the heat again, I think I went too far, or Tobasco did!

It’s funny though that it says that the Habenero is the hottest pepper in the world, and we know that it is in fact the Bhut Jolokia (naga) that has THAT distinction.

Either way, it’s a good sauce, nice and spicy, nice and hot.

The title for this post comes from my wife, stolen without approval.

Ingredients: Naga Morich/Bhut Jolokia, Fatalii, Trinidad 7 pot, Trinidad Scorpion Chillies. Vinegar, Lime, Sugar, Spices and Xanthan gum.

I first tried this about a year ago, when it was being developed, and the tale I got from Michael who runs the Rainbow Cafe in Brisbane, about how when cooking the first batch, the heat of the chili (not the stove based heat, but the chili based heat) got so strong the bottom part of his arm blistered.

It’s the hotest chilli sauce I can think of, it’s the hottest I have tried, and it’s SO tasty!

If you are in Brisbane, go give them a visit, and pick something up.  They also do ripper Fish and Chips, so get that with some sauce and go sit down and enjoy.

My son just fell out of the bed.  I was in the lounge room, watching tv.  I heard him fall through the monitor, but it was more muffled than I would have thought, and then he started crying.  Poor little bugger has a small cut from a fall a few days ago, and it’s now reopened, and additional to that is a massive bruise and egg just above his nose, and another egg off to the other side of his brow.

He sleeps with us, and we have a higher than normal bed.  Might fix that tomorrow / today.

So my Telstra bill was getting NUTS!  I was on the Telstra Corporate account, from when I was working at Telstra.  Until last month it meant my highest bill was $40 AUD so far.  Then last month I got one for $200~ and already this month it’s nearly that again, and I still have 2 weeks to go.  So obviously they have dropped me from the plan without telling me, and hit me with a massive bill.

But from the darkness comes the boss saying that work will pay for me to have a phone, and I just need to go get it, and transfer the number over and away we go.  So I did.  Today I grabbed a new 16gb 3G iPhone (black of course).  It’s nice, but now I have to get used to it.

Of course this mean I have to get the dreaded iTunes on the computer as well.  *shudder*

I have added some new features to the site, mainly for me, but you can use them too.

1. Flash Games can now be found in the Flash Arcade I did not make these, they are just some of my collection, and I will be adding more to it as I go.
2. Under the TECHNO-FILE section, I have an article on How to make a bootable USB key to run Ghost 2003 off for imaging computers.

So I am installing Office 2010 Plus at the moment, and after telling it to install everything locally (something I don’t normally do, but this is for supporting clients using it) I noticed the amount of space required:  2.3GB!  It’s bigger than the OS ffs!  Still I will see how it goes.

Since the boss signed us up as MS Partners, I am taking advantage of the fact and upgrading / reinstalling the laptop with valid real software, including Office 2010 in all it’s forms.  I will comment once done.  See anyone who is actually reading this page on the flip side.

Oh, it’s also 1am.  DAMN YOU INSOMNIA!

…ah, the blessed sounds of money coming into my accounts.

WTF am I doing awake – AGAIN?  I finished working at 1am, with the amount of meds I took, I should have been asleep for a long time, now instead I am up again, and working on the same damn thing again trying to get it finished.  I have to do payroll for work still (and pay me and Shane, I have to finish the time sheets, templatise a report I created, and modularise that at some point, get some reporting out of a client’s hardware that is proving to be a ROYAL PITA.

Do I take more drugs though?  We’ll see…

My little man is not having a good time of it.  His next (5th so far) tooth is coming through, and he caught a cold today at a kids play group, and at this play group also fell over and hit his nose hard enough to cause his first nose bleed.  I just cuddled him back to sleep, and then put him back in his cot.  Poor little bugger.

I had to remove the saddle bags off the bike today.  One is cracking, and one has had a tassle come off.  Damn things are only 4 weeks old, and already having issues, so I am taking them back for something else or a replacement.  Depends on wha they offer me.

I work in IT, at the time of this job coming to us I was the Technical Team Leader for a government agency through a subcontractor. But on this day, I had the funniest incident raised in our system, this is without giving away names, or information, a direct copy of the subject, and body of the message, with no updates added:
